Are you finally taking an interest in my love life?" An odd growl came from Cade's direction. Hmm. Strange. And not what I expect. "Only when it's serving a purpose." "Wouldn't my love life always serve the purpose of making me happy?" I ask sweetly, setting down my bag next to Mona. "That's not what I mean, and you know it." He swings his legs around and puts them on the floor, suddenly looking a lot more serious now that he's sitting. I sigh. "Not that it's any of your business, but I have a date on Friday," I admit. "Now go away so I can talk to Mona about it." I give him my ...

Excerpt: Spindles and Spells (Grimm Academy #1)

Image
Welcome to Grimm Academy, where the students are fairy tale characters and they're trying to avoid their prophecies - including Princess Briar, heir presumptive to a powerful kingdom - who wants to change her father's mind. Read on for an excerpt! ~~~~ Copyright 2020 Laura Greenwood ~~~~ "May I sit here?" a male voice asks. I open my eyes and look up at the tall boy standing in front of me. Except that boy doesn't do him justice. He's on the cusp of manhood, with dark curly hair, and kind eyes. "Of course," I say, a little flustered. Why haven't I prepared myself for situations like this? There's no way of avoiding them with all the shared space at the academy. But I'm used to being the only person my age around. The nobles bring their children to Court sometimes, but they never want to spend any time with me. I suspect they're all a little intimidated by the title and what it means to be a princess. "I haven't seen you aroun...

Excerpt: The Fox and the Viscount (The Shifter Season #1)

Image
I've always wanted to write a Regency romance, and mixing it with shifters (a favourite of mine!) has been so much fun! It follows fox shifters and childhood friends, Victoria and Edmund, as they make a rather inappropriate wager to see which of them will secure an engagement first...so obviously, it's a childhood friends to lovers situation. Read on for an excerpt! This is a standalone within the Shifter Season series (each book follows a different couple - but the heroines do cross paths!) ~~~~~ Copyright 2021 Laura Greenwood ~~~~~ I scan the edge of the room to try and pick out Denise, finding her hidden in an alcove with her nose in her book. An affectionate smile spreads over my face, and I let out a small chuckle. "Do you care to share your amusement, Miss Foxe?" a semi-familiar voice says from beside me. I spin around, my eyes widening as I take in the striking figure in front of me. "Ed-My Lord, I didn't realise you were in London." I bow my head...

Witches of The Obscure World

Image
With the release of Hazelnut Latte And Something To Say recently released, I thought I'd make a post about the suggested reading order for the witch based series within the Obscure World. I do write all of my series with the intention of them being able to be read on their own, but I do also link them. There are often cameos, but there are also some series that are more linked than others, and the witchy read-through path is one of them. Grimalkin Academy tells two stories for best friends Mona (books 1-6) and Daphne (books 7-10), BUT they do overlap in an odd order (they were originally two separate series and Daphne was only supposed to have one book, it's a long story), but if you want to read in the exact order they happen (not necessary, they are written to avoid major spoilers!): Catching A Vampire (Daphne #1) First Time's A Charm (Mona #1) < free on retailers! Second Time's A Curse (Mona #2) Catching A Wizard (Daphne #2) Catching A Warlock (Daphne #3) Cu...

July Update

Image
I'll preface it all by saying that I'm working really hard to bring the best books and series possible within reasonable timeframes, and I really appreciate everyone's support and understanding - particularly when I have to move dates and make changes. Anyway, please read on for updates about on-going and up-coming series (including co-writes) and the projects I promise I haven't forgotten about! If your favourite series (or a series you're interested in!) isn't on the list, then chances are high that it's already complete - but please feel free to ask! ON-GOING SERIES Cauldron Coffee Shop : if you missed my post a few days ago, then basically, this is no longer going to be a three-book series. I couldn't keep to that and give a satisfying end to Willow and Azíl. I think it's probably going to end up at 6 books in total, but I'll know for sure once I've finished wrapping up Peppermint Tea And Nothing Is Free (book 3) later this month. Book 4...

Important Update: Secret Santa For Grumpy Elves & Blind Dates For Lonely Gorgons

Image
I'm about to start work on the next Obscure Dates book (more on that soon!) which got me thinking about something I've been wanting to do for the existing two. Originally, both Obscure Dates and Obscure Academy (the series have interlinked characters) were going to be single point of view books, but over the course of writing the first few Obscure Academy books, I realised that series would benefit from dual point of view. Which brings me to Obscure Dates. As it's a similar set up, I thought that it might also benefit from dual point of view, and when I started plotting the next book, I realised that was definitely the case.  Instead of leaving the two earlier books so they didn't match the rest of the series, I've updated them so they now each have two chapters from the love interest's points of view! Nothing has changed in the storyline, the chapters have just been reworked into the alternative point of view (you can still read the original chapters via my web...

Excerpt: Initiate Of The Jackal (The Apprentice Of Anubis #2)

Image
One of my favourite parts of working on this series is the progressing friendship between Ani and Nik and the way they bounce off each other well - it actually is nothing like what I planned for them when I started my plot, but it fits them so well! Read on for an excerpt! ~~~ Copyright 2021 Laura Greenwood ~~~ Well, the pile of linen. I don't think it can really be called a body at this point. "We'll think of something," I promise. "Maybe there's some sort of clue around about..." "You better not be thinking about investigating this yourself," I cut him off. "You can't get into more trouble." He sighs. "Why do you have to talk so much sense?" "It's a gift. And one that's going to keep you out of trouble." "Then I will make it easy for you and promise that I won't do anything until you're back from your date with Ramesses." I let out a small groan. Nik raises his eyebrow. "Are you...

Bodies are turning up, and the signs point to someone from Cissy's past. Someone she thought was dead... - Wake the Dead is book one of the Necromancer Council Trilogy, an urban fantasy series with a slow burn romantic sub-plot.   Apple  -  Kobo  -  Nook  -  Google Play  -  Amazon  -  Smashwords  -  Direct  -  Universal In a world of necromancers, the (un)dead, and all other kinds of shady types, it’s the living that are the most dangerous. Update: Cauldron Coffee Shop Series

Image
I'm just finishing up work on Hazelnut Latte and Something To Say , and I've come to the realisation that the story just won't be able to end with Peppermint Tea And Nothing Is Free - which means that there will be more books (between 1 and 3, I'm still trying to work out that part!) I do want to stress that there is a finite end point for Willow and Azíl's story, but in order to get there with the right amount of relationship time, curse drama, and cat-scapades, there needs to be more than three books. I know this has happened a few times recently (notably with the Apprentice Of Anubis and Amethyst's Wand Shop Mysteries ), and it has had me start thinking about some reassessments of changes in my style and plotting that have probably caused it - which means there might be some changes going forward to future series and skewing me away from trilogies. I just want you to know, that as with everything, my main intent with changes like this is to bring the best s...
