I thought I'd give you a sneak peek into my book from the up-coming 99c Midnight Magic boxed set, Potion Making For Disastrous Witches!
Michaela is a terrible witch...but that's not going to stop her having a great time at Obscure Academy! This series is going to be light-hearted and fun - a mix between paranormal romance and paranormal academy (two of my favourite things to write!) and will be loosely inspired by my own experiences living in a mixed dorm during my first year of university! Each book will be a standalone with a HEA!

The moment I step onto campus, I know it's a good fit for me. I may be a witch, but I'm not a good one. It's not even something I'm in denial about and no one was surprised when I applied to Obscure Academy instead of one of the others that specialise in the education of eighteen-year-old witches and warlocks.
Maybe I could have gone to one of the human universities, but I decided against it. Part of what makes Obscure Academy unique is that it teaches people like me how to not make small disasters happen when we try to do magic. That's something I've wanted my entire life.
I glance down at my campus map to make sure I'm in the right place before reaching out and pressing my thumb against the fingerprint scanner. It's probably a good thing they rely on technology and not magic here.
The door clicks and I push it open, entering the flat which is going to be my home for the next few years.
I count the doors as I walk down the corridor. Nine of them in total, each housing a different student, both male and female. It's cheaper to live in a mixed dorm, and we're all adults, so it's not like anyone needs to police what we're up to.
No one seems to be around, so I make my way to number eight. My room.
Another fingerprint scanner sits above the handle. I wonder what the academy does when there's a power cut, this doesn't seem like the most sensible way of regulating the doors.
On the other hand, I'm less likely to lose my thumb than a key.
